What podcasts help you the most in your career?

The morning commute is a great time to catch up on the latest happenings across the product world. What are your favourite podcasts that have helped to push your career forward or give you a new perspective?

  • Senior Product Manager at Made by Many

My favourite podcast in 2018 by far has been the Product Breakfast Club co-hosted by Jake Knapp (of ‘Sprint’ book fame) and Jonathan Courtney (Co-Founder of AJ & Smart, a product design studio in Berlin).

The podcast airs weekly and is probably 60% banter (no bad thing!) and 40% amazingly useful or inspiring information about all things product. I love the fact that the hosts don’t take themselves too seriously. Past podcast topics have included things like dealing with the ‘innovation itch’, how to make big product decisions and a whole host of interesting interviews with entrepreneurs and product leaders. The one with Jason Fried, Founder and CEO of Basecamp, is one of my favourites.

Book recommendations often pop up during each podcast and I am now wading through a huge pile of things to read! Continual learning is so important for Product Managers as methodologies, ways of working and industry trends change so frequently. Give it a listen, you won’t be disappointed!

  • Co-Founder, Product Manager at JAM

The Indie Hackers podcast, hands down! It features stories of founders and makers, highlighting their personal lessons learned growing their business, product or career. It's hard not to feel inspired (or reassured!) listening to some of these genuine stories.

My favourite episode is the one with Spotify ex Design Lead Tobias Van Schneider talking about career choices, side projects and personal growth.
